Artist Kent Maxwell says "The intention behind my artwork is to transport viewers to worlds unseen, while imbuing them with a sense of nostalgia or mystery. My process draws on color, pattern and texture from familiar elements in nature, which I arrange through paint and encaustic techniques into visuals of unfamiliar places. I veer away from the detail presented in traditional landscapes and hyperrealist scenery, and instead highlight universal visuals through an impressionistic focus. In this way I aim to paint a porthole to another world, not a view out the window. The effect is liberation from the world we inhabit in the present moment, and an escape to a place with the eerie familiarity of a lost memory."
Kent Maxwell's "Ocean's Mystery" captures the fluid drama of the sea through abstraction. Layered brushwork and a sophisticated palette of deep blues, teals, and silvery whites evoke the ocean's hidden depths and shifting moods. This compelling piece invites contemplation, transforming any space with its sense of movement and intrigue. Perfect for those who appreciate contemporary art that evokes mystery and calm.
